Fantasy Bowl Review: Oklahoma beats Indiana

Oklahoma State rang in the New Year with a huge 49-33 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in the Insight Bowl on Monday Night.

Dare I say that Zac Robinson is the man even though he is not 40 years old?

The sophomore Cowboy QB (right,
J.P. Wilson/Icon SMI) accounted for five TDs and has set himself up as a top fantasy pick for 2008. The loss of OC Larry Fedora to the head coaching job had little impact as Head Coach Mike Gundy took over most of the play-calling. Expect the Cowboys to again be an offensive juggernaut in 2008.

While the offense is losing WR Adarius Bowman, expect freshman Dez Bryant to emerge as the #1 threat next year if he can keep his grades up. With two TDs and nine catches Bryant should not be a surprise to anyone next year.

Indiana QB Kellen Lewis runs hot and cold from week to week, but went from hot to cold a couple times during the game. Lewis sailed many passes high but made many plays with his legs. It was very surprising that WR James Hardy had such a quiet game - while the Cowboy secondary focused on him it is unusual for Hardy to be held without a touchdown.

With the graduation of Hardy, I expect that the Hoosiers will struggle offensively in 2008 despite the return of Lewis. While WR James Bailey shined occasionally when Hardy was contained, I am not sure how much he can handle as a #1. I also wonder how much of the energy from the Terry Hoeppner story can carry over to a 2008 season when the Hoosiers will play a tougher Big Ten schedule that should include Ohio State and Michigan again..
